San Francisco, November 2, 2023 — At a pivotal moment for advancing Sino-US cultural and educational exchanges, Tang Jun, the Education Counselor of the Consulate General in San Francisco, engaged in a friendly dialogue with prominent representatives from the educational fields of both countries. Professor Qingwen Dong, Head of the Communication Department at the University of the Pacific, Professor Peiqin Chen, Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Shanghai International Studies University, and visiting scholars Yingchun Xu and Wan Zheng from Shanghai International Studies University participated in this meeting.
During the discussion, Professor Qingwen Dong and Yingchun Xu provided Counselor Jun Tang with a detailed account of the current frontline teaching practices in American higher education institutions, especially highlighting the revolutionary applications of artificial intelligence technologies like ChatGPT in teaching. They shared their experiences in leveraging ChatGPT to facilitate academic research and creative writing activities, emphasizing the profound impact of such technologies on scientific advancements and scholarly research.
Counselor Jun Tang expressed strong interest in the educational applications of ChatGPT and acknowledged this as a significant inflection point in the domain of educational technology.
