SISU Holds Award Ceremony for Du Chongyuan Journalism Practice Scholarship and Hou Yuzhi Multilingual Excellence Scholarship

SISU held the 2025 award ceremony and student forum for the Du Chongyuan Journalism Practice Scholarship and the Hou Yuzhi Multilingual Excellence Scholarship at the Ke Guohong Alumni Center on the Songjiang campus on December 22, 2025.

Attendees included Wu Lirui, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission; scholarship donor and 1996 alumnus Xia Jin; Chen Sheng, Chair of the Shenzhen Longyue Philanthropic Foundation; as well as representatives from the university’s alumni association, education development foundation, Student Affairs Office, School of Journalism and Communication, and student awardees. The event was chaired by Wang Huihua, Secretary General of SISU’s Education Development Foundation.

On behalf of the university, Wu Lirui presented a donation certificate to Xia Jin. He noted the role of alumni and social contributions in supporting student development and expressed the university’s intention to continue expanding cooperation in talent cultivation.

Representatives from the Student Affairs Office and the School of Journalism and Communication introduced the selection procedures for the two scholarships. Certificates were then presented to the award recipients.

During the discussion session, Xia Jin outlined the motivation for establishing the scholarships and acknowledged the university’s work in organizing the selection process and documenting the contributions of Du Chongyuan and Hou Yuzhi. Chen Sheng shared views on the importance of internships and practical experience in developing global competence.

Student representatives described their academic and practical experiences and expressed appreciation for the support provided by the donors and the university.

The two scholarships are named after Du Chongyuan, a noted patriot and revolutionary martyr, and his wife Hou Yuzhi. They were established by Xia Jin through the SISU Education Development Foundation to support students who demonstrate strong performance in journalism practice and multilingual ability, and form part of the university’s scholarship and student support system.
