Shanghai Media Group (SMG) host Chen Chen, an alumna of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU), has received the Golden Voice Award, one of China’s highest honors in radio and television hosting.
The prestigious award celebrates exceptional talent and long-term contributions in broadcasting.
A graduate of SISU’s School of Journalism and Communication, Chen earned her bachelor’s degree in International Journalism in 2002 and her master’s in 2005. She began her career while still a student, joining the entertainment news show Yule Online, which quickly brought her national attention.
Since then, Chen has hosted a wide range of hit programs such as Star Entertainment, My Show, My Hero, and Let’s Shake It. She has fronted the celebrity talk show Chen Chen All Star since 2012 and even shared the global stage with Benedict Cumberbatch as co-host of the 2015 Laureus World Sports Awards, becoming the first Asian female host in the event’s history.
Beyond television hosting, Chen has become a respected producer and director, creating acclaimed documentary-style cultural programs. Her series Heroes won the 2020 TV Art Starlight Award, while The Answer of Time was shortlisted for the China TV Golden Eagle Awards.
In 2022, she ventured into science communication with Future China — the nation’s first science-themed reality competition. Produced, directed, and hosted by Chen, the show brought cutting-edge technology to a broad audience and earned a Magnolia Award nomination for Best Variety Show.
With more than 20 years in broadcasting, Chen Chen continues to inspire audiences and young journalists alike — combining professionalism, creativity, and a pioneering spirit that perfectly embodies the values of SISU.
