Faculty from Shanghai International Studies University's (SISU) School of Journalism and Communication have kickstarted a new initiative to bridge the gap between academia and industry. During August, they visited district-level media centers in Minhang, Pudong, Songjiang, Changning, and Jing'an, focusing on enhancing student internships and crafting talent development strategies that meet real-world needs.
The tour yielded concrete plans. In Minhang, discussions solidified agreements on shared platform development, expert exchanges, and international communication projects. Stops in Pudong, Songjiang, Changning and Jing’an centered on creating robust internship and mentorship programs.
This collaboration is already delivering measurable results, creating a direct talent pipeline that sees SJC graduates launching their careers as key contributors in these district centers.
Besides, a prime example is the Shanghai Songjiang APP's English channel. Launched in October 2020, the platform has published over 1,500 English news reports, serving as a vital communication bridge for nearly five years and demonstrating the powerful synergy between SISU's multilingual talent and local media.
