Dr. GUO Ke is a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, and director of Center for Global Public Opinion Research of China, Shanghai International Studies University (SISU).
As Co-editor-in-Chief of the open access English journal Online Media and Global Communication, GUO Ke has focused on research of global journalism, international communication, public opinion, media effect, international journalism education. He has authored three books on global communication and international journalism and edited one book on media effect and media uses and gratification among Chinese youth, and more than 80 papers and articles in Chinese and English. He has also set up a platform for global communication case studies.
He has maintained close cooperative contacts with UNESCO and promoted the signing of the Letter of Cooperation between UNESCO and SISU. In addition, he has hosted two UNESCO conferences in Shanghai and supported the translation and publication of three UNESCO books.
He is now the Consultant of the National Commission of the People’s Republic of China for UNESCO, the Asian coordinator in the World Journalism Education Council, member of the Steering Committee for Global Communication under the Information Office of the State Council, member of China and the Journalism Education Supervisory Committee under the Ministry of Education of China, and vice president of the International Communication Association of China.
