Winners at Asian University Go Tournament 2019

The Asian College Go Tournament 2019 was held at Lampang Rajabhat University in Thailand from September 18th to 23rd. Having clinched the National Ing Cup University Go Championship this year, the SISU Go Team, appointed by the China Go Federation as a Chinese representative, took part in the Asia-level competition.

First held in 2001, the Asian University Go Tournament has been the most prominent continental Go events for university students in Asia. After 6 rounds of fierce competition during the 4 days, the China team eventually claims both the team and the individual titles (It is the fourth time after 2009, 2013 and 2014 for SISU Go team to represent Chinese university students to participate in the Asian University Go Tournament and won the double championship). Wang Yanhao, from School of Asian and African Studies, claimed the victory in the individual event while Cheng Shijiao, from School of Business and Management, took the 4th place.

The Asian University Go Tournament 2019 was held by the Thai Association of Go Sports. Competing in this year’s tournament were 14 teams from 12 countries and regions, including China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hongkong, Macao, Thailand, Philippine, Vietnam, Lao, Malaysia and Singapore.

The SISU team also took an active part in various Go learning activities and Go teaching games during the tournament.
