hirty-three students of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) competed in the Ancient Chinese Poems Reciting Competition, a part of the 8th SISU Library Promotion Month, early this November.
With a poetic opening word, the hostess in the Han nationality clothes and ornaments created a quaint atmosphere. The poems competitors chose were either glorious or sorrowful, expressing concerns about nation or lamenting for love. They used multiple ways to perform, such as reciting in different languages, and sang the poems out.
During the competition, judges commented in different perspectives. Professor Zhang Shaoduo’s rhythmic doggerel won audience applause. As the advisor of the troupe, Li Ran made her suggestions in vocal, and Professor Zhang Man gave advices from perspective of literary studies to competitors’ choice of poems.
Representing the sponsor, Ren Yao concluded that the Ancient Chinese Poems Reciting Competition was a recollection of classic and traditional Chinese culture for students study in a globalized university like SISU, and would help students deepen their understandings of both traditional and international culture.
