T

he softball team of Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) attends the annual Shanghai College Students Softball Tournament on October 25th and gets one win and one loss in the two games that day.

The team loses to the second team of East China Normal University at 8-12 and wins over the team of East China University of Science and Technology at 13-7.

Rumi, the captain of SISU softball team, says that the team doesn’t perform well in the first game for they have made too many faults, but they do well in the second game.

Long Xiaomin, the catcher of the team, is considered the best player in the two games by Rumi. Long was recruited by the team only two months ago, but Rumi compliments her on her clear head on the court.

“My greatest achievement in the games is that I find some weak spots in myself,” Long says humbly. She wants to be a more reliable catcher in the future.

Rumi says that generally the team lacks practice in normal times and the basic skills of team members are not refined enough. The team will practice more and take part in games actively in the future, and try their best to perform better in the games held next spring.

SISU softball team’s next game in this tournament against the second team of Tongji University is scheduled on November 8th.
