ore than 500 people learned about the cultures of other countries as Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) hosted a successful International Carnival 2015 on Oct. 24.

Organized by MBA Center and School of Chinese Studies and Exchange, the carnival included 20 groups from various countries exhibiting and performing at Yifu Auditorium on the university’s Hongkou Campus.

International students of SISU showed customs, special crafts and traditional cuisines of their home countries with the goal of culture communication and fostering friendships. Traditional food making, talent show, fashion show, games and souvenir exchange were included.

International students were asked to form one group for each country represented at SISU. Each group decorated their exhibition booth with photos, posters, flags, handicrafts and more, as well as preparing a program. Most of them also came in traditional dress, which added to the carnival’s colorful and multicultural appeal.

Kyrgyzstan won the Best Group Prize, while groups from Chile and Belgium were awarded prizes for performing and style.
