nternational students of Shanghai International Studies University who had owned Confucius Institute Scholarship this year visited some famous visiting spots in Shanghai such as the Sihang Warehouse (where a critical battle in China's Resistance against Japan ended), Yuyuan Garden and the Huangpu River on Oct. 14, in the context of the 70th anniversary of Chinese People's victory against Japanese aggression.

The students watched the pictures and the objects on display while listening to the guide carefully in Sihang Warehouse and had a intuitively further understanding on Chinese people’s arduous difficulties during the war. Many Students wrote for commemoration on the visitor′s book.

Yuyuan Garden is a traditional Chinese garden which is indispensable for understanding Shanghai’s history. Entering Yuyuan, students seemed to be drawn back to the ancient days by the typical South China style landscape gardening structure - the elaborately designed "rockery", the classical halls and the quaint stage- with which students took photos for memories.

Visiting the Huangpu River by ferry boat is maybe one of the most suitable tourist projects for experiencing the development of Shanghai during modern times. Under the lights, the Garden Bridge which bears history of hundreds of years lies in the Puxi, the western side of the Huangpu River, contrasts sharply with the skyscraper which represents the new development since the reform and opening-up policy stand in Pudong, the eastern side of the river. The contrary of times touched the students with Shanghai’s modern vigor and historical inheritance.
