he Confucius Institute Headquarters announced that Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) became one of the 16 member universities of the newly-launched “Confucius China Studies Program” recently.
The Program consists of six subprograms in the academic areas of Humanities and Social Sciences with the financial support mainly from specific research and projects on designated academic areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.
At the 8th Confucius Institute Conference, Xu Lin, Director of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, said that the China Studies Program is one of the headquarters' core projects to promote Chinese culture and academic achievements globally.
The Confucius Institute Headquarters has set up the “Confucius China Studies Program” to foster deep understanding of China and the Chinese culture among young generations from around the world, enable the prosperous growth of China studies, promote the sustainable development of Confucius Institutes, and enhance the friendly relationship between China and the people of other countries.
The program allows international students to pursue doctoral degrees or participate in joint Ph.D. fellowship programs, including Joint Research Ph.D. Fellowship, Ph.D. in China Fellowship, “Understanding China” Fellowship and Young Leaders Fellowship. The International Conference Grant and Publication Grant are also available to international scholars.
