Speaker Biography:Tang Xiaobing is professor of Department of Culture and Comparative Literature in University of Michigan. Born in 1984, Tang graduated from Peking University and then studied in America. In 1991, he received Doctor of Literature in Duke University. Tang once taught in the University of Colorado, the University of Chicago and the University of Southern California.

Summary: The lecture is going to discuss about the condition and development of comparative

literature in modern American university when referred as a subject. How can comparative

literature maintain its academic character and play an active role in liberal education is what the

subject going to focus on.
