Speaker Biography: Rolf Schieder is the chair of Practical Theology and Religious Education in the Faculty of Theology at the Humboldt University of Berlin, where he is also chairman of the Program on Religion and Politics. His research interests include religion in Germany and the United States, religious education, and the religious dimensions of political culture.
Schieder is a fellow at the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies and runs the Haniel Summer School on Religion, Politics, and Economics. Among his publications are Sind Religionen gefährlich? [Religions are Dangerous?] (2008) and Wieviel Religion verträgt Deutschland?[How Much Religion Does Germany Tolerate?] (2001).
